For teaching, the department is involved in two programs:

  • Undergraduate Program
  • Post-graduate program

 

 

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

Academic staff of the department are involved in the teaching and learning activities of these programs:

  • Medical Doctor Program
  • Bachelor in Nursing program
  • Bachelor of Science (Environmental and Occupational Health ) Program
  • Bachelor of Science (Biomedicine) Program
  • Bachelor of Science (Dietetics and Nutrition) Program
  • Bachelor of Science (Dietetics) Program

The involvement of the departments' staff is in giving lectures, and tutorials, conducting Student-Centered Learning (SCL) sessions as well as supervising practical and research activities.


Medical Doctor program


Academic staff in the department are responsible for implementing the module for first and second-year medical students in these courses:

  • MDR3201 : Fundamental Community Medicine
  • MDR3901 : Research Project
  • MDR3104 : Humanitarian And Leadership Experience
  • MDR3101 : Professionalism And Personal Development 1

For clinical year 4 teaching, staff of the department are involved in providing teaching the Community Medicine Posting (MDR3202)

Community Medicine Posting
This posting involves on-site training activities in collaboration with the respective district health offices and district hospitals in Rembau, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah, and Jempol in Negeri Sembilan as well as Bintulu in Sarawak. (See activities picture)


POST-GRADUATE PROGRAM
The department also offers the following three graduate programs:

 

Masters of Science with thesis (MSc)

  • Full-time program
  • Duration : 2 years (4 semesters)
  • Field of studies :
    • MSc (Epidemiology and Biostatistics)
    • MSc (Health Service Management)
    • MSc (Health Promotion)
    • MSc (Public Health) – the sub-disciplines including; family health, environmental medicine, occupational medicine, and community health.

    Doctor of Philosophy with thesis (PhD)

    • Full-time and part-time program
    • Duration : 3-6 years (full-time)
    • Disciplines of studies are family health, environmental medicine, occupational medicine, community health, epidemiology and biostatistics, health service management, and health promotion

    • Full-time program
    • Duration : 1 year (2 semester)
    • Only for medical doctor
