COMMUNITY HEALTH
Community health, a field of public health, is a discipline that concerns itself with the study and betterment of the health characteristics of biological communities in defined geographic areas. The field covers course works, research and intervention activities carry out in community aimed at improving the health of a community ranged from improving access to health facilities to improvement of health status of the population.
Master of Science (MSc)

- A Bachelor degree in Health Sciences from recognize university with minimum CGPA 2.5
- Applicants who do not meet the above requirement, but with sufficient working and research experience, may also apply
- Students, who are in their last semester of study for the Bachelor’s degree, may apply for provisional admission

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Field of Study : Community Health
- Duration of Studies : 3 – 4 years
- Methods of Study : Course work with thesis
- Entry requirement : A Master degree in field of Community Health or relevant field of Health Sciences from recognize university First Class Bachelor degree in relevant Health Sciences field with CGPA 3.75 above Master students in field of Community Health or relevant Health Sciences and already submitted their thesis may apply for provisional admission

Course Synopsis
Epidemiology (SPH5111) Credit: 3(2+1)
This course covers principles, methods and epidemiological application in improving health of the community as well as its application in disease control and prevention.
Medical Statistic (SPH5112) Credit: 3(2+1)
This course covers principles of medical statistics, data analysis and its interpretation with emphasize given toward hands-on skills in using statistical packages.
Health Research (SPH5113) Credit:3(2+1)
This course covers concepts in health researchmethods with emphasize on the planning and preparation of research proposals as well as writing of scientific papers and critical review of journal articles.
Health Service System (SPH5211) Credit:3(3+0)
This course covers the methods of health service delivery systems being practised in various countries as well as theories and principles of management, and its application to health services, programs and activities.
Family Health and Population (SPH5311) Credit:3(2+1)
This course covers management of family health care at all level of Ministry of Health organization and discussion on current family health problems on clinical and community perspectives.
Patient Education and Health Promotion (SPH5411) Credit: 3(3+0)
This course covers the concepts and role of communication in health care, lifestyle and behaviour as well as during interpersonal, group and mass communication.
Environmental and Occupational Health Services SPH5611
This course covers the scopes of Environmental and Occupational Health Services by various government and non-government agencies.
